Brant County Power in cooperation with The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) are working together to help homeowners do their part. Just by having a Peaksaver thermostats installed in your home you do your part by reducing the strain on the electrical grid plus receive a $25 credit on your next electricity bill.

With the Peaksaver program you can have a FREE programmable thermostat installed in your house (valued at $225). Both the Peaksaver thermostat and the installation are FREE to the homeowner. Provincially Peaksaver events will raise your houses temperature by 2 degrees Celsius. This change on a provincial scale releases enough energy to assist in avoiding a blackout.

The Ontario Home Energy Audit

The Ontario Home Energy Audit Program is a new energy conservation program from the Government of Ontario. A Home Energy Audit shows you how your home uses energy and where it is being leaked. It identifies improvements you can make to your home’s heating, cooling, hot water heating and other energy uses that could result in hundreds of dollars in energy savings each year.

Many of the energy-saving upgrades identified by your Home Energy Audit will qualify you for rebates under the Home Energy Retrofit Program. These rebates from the Governments of Ontario and Canada can reimburse you up to $10,000 when you complete improvements identified by your audit.

Power Savings Blitz

The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) in cooperation with Brant County Power is excited to be helping small businesses in the community become more energy- efficient. The Power Saving Blitz (PSB) is a program geared towards small commercial businesses. This program provides turn-key lighting and water heating retrofits up to $1000 with the opportunity to pay costs over the $1,000, at each business’ discretion.

Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program

The OPA in cooperation with Brant County Power are assisting Commercial, Industrial, Institutional and Agricultural customers to conserve energy and shift their loads from periods of peak demand to lower cost times of the day.

The objective of the program is to leverage energy conservation and load management opportunities by offering incentives for sustainable, measurable and verifiable energy retrofits that result in on-peak demand savings and/or annual energy savings.

Maintaining a reliable supply of electricity is a priority. By reducing peak demand, participating businesses will contribute to the increased viability of the overall supply.
