$24,500 financial incentive from Brant County Power helps local business achieve substantial savings in energy costs

The huge compressors used for blast cleaning, coating and painting at Brant Corrosion Control are the key pieces of equipment at the Brant County industry and they require a lot of power to operate.

However, with the help of $24,500 from the Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP), the company has installed new, energy efficient, compressors and air dryers that are substantially reducing its energy costs.  Peak electricity demand dropped from 105.7Kw (kilowatt hours) to 98.8Kw

ERIP, sponsored by Brant County Power with help from the Ontario Power Authority, provides incentive payments to commercial, industrial, institutional and agricultural businesses and organizations in order to reduce the cost of electricity retrofits to existing buildings.

Brant Corrosion Control Inc., an affiliate of TF Warren Group Inc., operates an 80,000 square foot facility on Garnet Road. Its services include spray applied coating systems for the long-term preservation of equipment.

“We were not aware of the program when we were considering the approximately 250 thousand dollar project, but when we realized financial support was available, it made the decision to go ahead that much easier,” said Ted MacMillan, General Manager, Brant Corrosion Control.  “We figure that with the grant and our overall energy savings we will see a return on our investment in two and a half to three years”.

The Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program offers its incentives based on electricity savings, whether it's a retrofit from a prescribed list of options or a custom job that’s unique to the existing building.

It’s a very competitive marketplace for companies so Brant County Power is working together with its large companies to help them find energy efficiencies that will lower their overhead costs.

If you're an industrial or commercial business, or perhaps a local organization, now is the time to invest in lowering your energy costs because financial support through ERIP is still available.
